Overview

The UX design app is designed to help parents track their child's health by providing an easy way to input daily health data, schedule regular check-ups and vaccinations, and connect with physicians for consultations and urgent concerns. During the process a redesign was made.

keeping track of the child's medical history, scheduling appointments, and communicating with physicians. The goal set for this project is to create an app that addresses these challenges by providing a user-friendly interface and necessary features to streamline the process for parents.
The most significant problem to solve in this project is the challenge parents face in managing their children's health effectively while also balancing their own needs. This encompasses various aspects such as

Interview

Type: I created a script with 20 open-ended questions, focusing on our target audience’s values, motivations, and daily routines.
Participants: 7 individual • 3/7 parents • 1/7 Starting a family soon • 2/7 Healthcare Providers

Key Findings

  • Interviewers wanted something an efficient and fast way to keep track of their children's health on the go.

Persona

The persona was based on user interviews, and we kept updating them throughout the project as we gathered more data. We used these personas whenever we wanted to step out of ourselves and reconsider our initial ideas.
  • The persona reflected to the design process by indicating one of the target audiences.
  • During the wireframing and prototyping, the persona was looked back upon.

User Journey

I identified important steps and potential dropoff points in the flow. By contributing these to the design, I ended up with a fluent way for the parent/guardian to access and communicate health information.
  • The design path was chosen based on user feedback through the interview process.

Ui Design

Once the usability issues were resolved, I moved on to design the final screens in Figma. My goal was to create a visual identity that’s aligned with the users' values and message, which is: “children's health”.

User-Centered Design Reflections:

The final screens incorporated user feedback from usability testing, prioritizing readability, accessibility, and smooth navigation. For instance:

I would love to continue further with the design process for this app and develop it into a functional app. The next approach would be to dive even deeper into security and privacy by creating audits and finding any vulnerabilities and then eventually releasing the app to the public.

I would continue to conduct a second trial of interviews on the UI design to determine any changes that should be made and contribute those changes to the design.

Creating HealthyKids truly tested me as a designer. I learned new tricks such as shortcuts and functions during the prototyping using Figma that will help me further through my design processes. This project not only helped me grow as a designer but also improved the way I ask questions to further understand the user's needs. A preconception that I had going into this project was focusing on the visual appeal, which is important, but as I delved more into the project, I realized the complexity of making sure important information was added for the functionality like the medical records, appointment scheduling, and having secure communication.
